Challenge: Legacy key management system with no Siemens SiPass integration

The facilities management team at Monash Health struggled to manage keys effectively. Despite using a competitor key management system, facility managers would manually handle hundreds of keys using outdated key cabinets, which lacked any access control and integration with Siemens SiPass.  As a result, the staff, security guards, and contractors had unfettered access to keys.

The lack of a robust workflow to monitor, audit, and control access to keys presented constant security risks. To address these issues, Monash Health needed an access control for keys that seamlessly integrated with Siemens SiPass, providing a single source of truth for user credentials and real-time reporting on critical events and ‘key’ transactions.

Solution: Integrated key management system

Monash Health selected Torus and started with 4 Torus cabinets. Torus ensure keys are always readily available to authorised users whenever needed and securely stored when not in use. The elegant Torus + SiPass integration provides facility and security managers with a single platform, making it easy to manage access permissions for staff, guards, and contractors.

With an integrated platform, they can effectively monitor keys and ensure only authorised personnel can access them – and only when required. Most importantly, they always know who the last ‘user’ was, which is important when keys or equipment are damaged or lost. Now that their key access is automated, Monash Health saves an enormous amount of time and money every year.
