Challenge: No access control to manage high volume of keys

The facilities team at EVT required an access control solution to enhance safety and streamline the management of physical keys across its hotels and resorts. With a high volume of keys used across dozens of facilities every day – contractors, front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and cash handling – a scalable and efficient key management system is critical. The solution needs to enforce strict access control, ensuring only authorized people can access the required keys.  Plus, the ability to assign keys based on many roles and schedules, such as housekeeping shifts, was essential.

The key management system should provide detailed activity reports to support oversight and eliminate unauthorised access. To meet audit and compliance requirements, the system must provide secure, tamper-evident logging and comprehensive data export capabilities.

Solution: Automated access control solution for keys

Following a thorough RFP process, Torus was selected to provide the key management solution. To date 34 Torus cabinets are installed across 26 sites – 18 in Australia and 8 in New Zealand. EVT managers now have a single platform to monitor and control access to keys ‘globally’ in real-time. Only authorized individuals can access keys and if keys are not returned, Torus sends real-time SMS alerts – ensuring accountability and prompt return of the keys.
